Beach Walk For Ruby's Friends

Donation protected
Hi Everyone!

This is all super last minute, so just bear wtih me!

Join us on Sat. 9/24, we will walk the beach and gather for hamburgers and hot dogs after to celebrate our uncle, brother, husband, friend, Tim Keegan, and ALSO to celebrate Ruby's FIRST BIRTHDAY! All dogs and humans are welcome :-D

We have decided, in honor of both Tim and Ruby, to give a small dontation to 4 Paws For Ability at this walk. We are asking for a small donation of $5 or $10 or whatever works for you! If you would like to bring a small potluck dish to share, that would be awesome as well! Also, please let us know if you do plan to attend so we know how much food to prepare. YUMMMMMM, I can't wait!

We still have a few details to work out, like where we will have the bbq, exact time of the walk, and which child we will be sponsoring, so keep checking back frequently for updates.

Here is more info on how this all came about (read all the way to the bottom!):

As many of you may already know, we were hoping to gather in Maine for the Fight Back Festival for another year to celebrate our Uncle, Brother, Friend, Tim Keegan. Josh and I were also hoping to share a small birthday cake for Ruby, with family and friends at the event.

You may have heard the FBF organization changed their registration guidelines and are requiring now that participants automatically donate $100 on top of the $35 registration fee. It has come to my attention a lot of family members are opting out of the event as a result.

This had me super bummed. See back in August I had triend to organize a dog wash fundraiser to raise $ for this event, but we couldn't pin down a good weekend for everyone needed to pull it off. We were all just too busy.

Then, all this FBF "stuff" happened. I thought, why don't we all just gather at the beach, everyone give $5, $10, or whatever! and we will STILL celebrate Tim and Ruby!

After talking with Carmen, suggested donating to a childrens organization. I quickly put my mother (the queen of Google searches) to the task of finding a reputable organization.

She found 4 Paws For Ability. An amazing organization in Ohio that raises and trains services dogs for children and veterans who need assitance with autism, developmental disorders, diabetes, PTSD, and many other rare health conditions.

Our goal is to choose one candidate trying to raise the money for a service dog and sponsor their fundraising efforts. It costs approximatley $22,000 to place a service dog and families are asked to raise $13,000 of that amount. People that choose to sponsor a specific candidate are asked to raise $17,000!

This is no small feat, and every little bit helps a deserving candidate reach their goal. but I would LOVE if you all would join us, eat, sing happy birthday, BE MERRY, and help us on our mission to give a deserving person a service dog!

If I've forgotten anything just ask!
