Being vulnerable is one of the hardest and most beautiful things a person can be...so here goes.
My name is Nikki and I am a single Mom of three AMAZING boys. Brendan is 15, Caleb is 10 and Ethan is 9. Each one is a unique gift and challenge. Our blog used to be called Life In Crazytown because it gets pretty nuts around here!
We live in the sea of diagnoses. The alphabet soup of Special Needs. From Autism to brain damage, Mosiac Down syndrome to Anxiety...the list is extensive and the needs intense. All three boys are currently on Social Security, however, they are under the manditory review and that is a scary process.
The reality of our situation is that one Mom is trying to do what it takes a village to do. Raise my family. I need help. Our income is incredibly limited and shrinking. Housing costs are rising. We've moved, on average, every 6 months-1 year since my boys were born. We need stability. Safety.
Due to the high Needs of the boys and all that Special Needs parenting entails, my days are quite full . My work IS raising my boys. My work IS being a great Mother to them. Currently, my job IS being full time teacher to Caleb. It leaves little time for a J.O.B. (At least one that contributes to the bottom line). And so I've found my calling and life's purpose in helping others by blogging, presenting and writing. As of yet, it's not paying the bills. I have faith that one day it will! Loads of experience will serve me well.
There is no system, service or program available that makes it affordable for me to do my job without worrying about how I will afford groceries, gas and housing expenses. I am VERY good at my job and need to be able to focus on it so that I can raise these amazing human beings that were entrusted to my care. This is why I am asking for help.
I am EXTEMELY lucky to have an amazing and loving support system. Friends and family who are there and who care. The boys and I might not have much materially, but where it counts, we are the richest people in the world.
I am reaching out in hopes that you WONDERFUL human beings will help me provide what I have been unable to alone. Safe, stable housing for my incredibly deserving boys.
A house. A place we can call home where they don't have to worry about moving and can play with their two Goldenlabradoodles (Brander and Bailey) and just be kids. Where they can grow up. Where I can teach them and we can be a family. Where I can do what I do best, which is be Mom and use my extensive knowledge to inspire and uplift others. And where we can do it all knowing we don't have the burden of financial strain and worry any longer.
I am aware I'm shooting for the moon. I know there are many programs out there that would seem to be available to help us and I assure you I've exhausted all avenues. As a Mom, I believe my boys deserve the moon. Heck, they deserve the stars too...and this Mom will do whatever she can to ensure they have it.
