Dear Friends and Family,
Last year I ran my first New York City Marathon in the support of the Ridgewood Rotary Foundation. The Marathon was both the physical and mental challenge I had anticipated but the encouragement both before the race from friends, family and fellow Rotarians and during the race from complete strangers is something that I will never forget. Together we were able to raise just over $9,600 to support the charitable work of the Foundation.
This year my daughter, Heather Murray, has agreed to join me. This will be her first New York City Marathon and I am looking forward to sharing the experience with her. Based on my experience last year, we have set a fund raising goal of $15,000.
The Foundation is a Public Charity under section 509 (a)(2) of the Internal Revenue code and is exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501(c)(3). This means that your donation will be tax exempt. In addition, since the Foundation is self-administered, every dollar you donate goes directly to the programs of the Foundation.
Your support will aid local families in need of assistance…provide lifesaving heart surgery to a child from a developing country … provide clothing and medical supplies to an orphanage in Haiti … provide support for the families of our service men and women …. provide disaster relief when needed ….help rid the world of Polio and provide scholarships to deserving students.
I believe in the work that the Foundation does and I hope that you will too. Help make every mile that we run between now and the end of the race make a difference in someone’s life.
