61 yr. old lost home built himself

Donation protected
Rick Moninger built his Bastrop Texas home by hand little by little as he could afford to buy building materials.

His goal was to have a home with no mortgage when he retired. It was a combination of framed walls and a yurt-like ceiling ( canvas ). The standard roof was the next to be completed so his home was a work in progress and almost finished when the Hidden Pines Fire in Bastrop Texas started last week.

Rick was one of the first to be evacuated and he grabbed this three rescue dogs and hopped in his truck.  He didn't know that he was leaving everything he owned behind and that it would not be there when he returned!

The Bastrop Complex fire in 2011 impacted Rick also.  He worked for approx. 17 years for TKP Woodmill  in Bastrop as a furniture maker.  Rick is a top notch wood worker!!  In 2011 TKP burned down in the Bastrop Complex Fire and Rick lost his job.

Since then he has worked for my husband Roger @ Roger Rowland Home Services.

Rick's home was not insured due to the nature of it's build.  All of his personal possessions are gone.  All of his tools.  And two of his three cats.

Our goal is to raise funds to get Rick in to a Campco Texas Steel ouse ( container home )  as quickly as possible.   We are also looking for donations of  tools/use tools, building materials, and gift cards to Home Depot/Lowes. The container home will be liveable but not completely finished inside so Rick can make it his own over time.

Our goal is to have a Container delivered in two weeks or less.

Thank you for helping us help Rick!
