HELPING & HEALING AFTER HURRICAN HARVEY
More than ever we need your help to assist those affected by Hurrican Harvey. The devastating flood waters have destroyed the clothing and shoes of the children in Fort Bend ISD. Backpacks have been washed away, school supplies need to be replaced, and hope needs to be restored.
Before Hurricane Harvey brought chaos to this area, 39% of our students' parents and guardians needed assistance. The need for help will increase and assistance for their children will be needed for months to come. Their lives have been shaken by the loss of employment, unexpected medical bills, expensive car repairs, and the flood waters of Hurricane Harvey.
Shared Dreams is a program that helps students in need in Texas with proper school clothing, new shoes, new socks, school supplies, and new underwear. Some of our children during the 2016-2017 school year needed one item while others required all items availabe to them. Our goal is to provide children with not only tangable items, but to ensure that we help preserve their self-esteem. We assisted over 20,000 children last school year.
We are a non profit organization and operate as part of the FBISD school district under the Collaberative Communities Department. We do not receive funding from the state or the school district. The assistance we provide to the parents/guardians to help their children is always free. More than 1000 volunteers help each school year and we are sure, due to Hurricane Harvey, that the number of volunteers will increase to help make this program a success.
Your help is needed!! !! Please consider donating to make the difference in the lives of those that need us the most. For more information on this program please go to fortbendisd.com Please feel free to share this link.
