Our first Embryo adoption was successful and resulted in the birth of our son, Jameson! We are so very thankful for all the love and support we received through that process. Now we are going back for more! Jameson has two full genetic siblings who are still frozen and waiting to be thawed out and given a chance at life. We are hoping and praying that we can return for them sometime in 2020.
For those who don't know, embryo adoption is very similar to traditional adoption, in that we will have to have a home study, go through mountains of paperwork, possibly meet the biological family, and figure out whether to have a "closed" adoption or an "open" adoption, and how open we might want it to be. But what makes it different is that instead of going to the hospital to pick up our baby and bring them home, we will have the embryo(s) thawed and placed inside of me, where I will hopefully carry them to term and give birth to our adopted baby(ies).
There are so many wonderful things about embryo adoption! For one thing, I am looking forward to being able to experience pregnancy. For another thing, we would give birth to a baby who already legally belongs to us, as there is no wait time for the adoption paperwork to go through, since that happens before the embryo is transferred to my womb. Also, we would be offering a person, someone who is alive and made in God's image, the chance at life rather than cold storage or abortion. What a blessing!
We ask you, our family and friends, to pray for us moving forward. To pray for our hearts, that we would trust Christ in all that we do. To pray for God's timing. This is a lengthy process and we want to make sure we are moving forward, not standing still, but we want to trust God that the timing will be according to His sovereign plan. To pray for our finances. Embryo adoption is cheaper than traditional adoption, but still significantly out of our regular budget. Pray that God will open doors and provide financially. And we want to thank you now for your support and help as we prepare to grow our family once more through embryo adoption!
