Justice for Jackson

Donation protected
This is my dog Jackson. He is the most gentle, friendly, loyal and loving dog I have ever known. Over 11 years, he was a friend, counselor, excercise partner, and family member to me. He was better than I ever deserved.

While in the backyard at our Bountiful near 300 North & 100 East on the evening of September 21st, someone both poisoned and severely beat him. The beating caused his brain to swell, and inflicted abdominal damage normally only seen when hit by a car.

We tried for nearly two weeks to turn things around for him, and for about a week we thought he would be alright. But in the late evening of Saturday, October 3rd, it was apparent that he was in too much pain to continue, and we had to put him to sleep.

I shared Jackson's story on Facebook on October 4th, and 24 hours later, over 3600 people had re-posted it. If you've found your way to this page, you likely saw it too. Many have contacted me directly with offers of help with his medical bills, as well as contributions to a reward to help bring the attacker to justice.  While it was not something that I had initially considered, I realized that I have been presented with a unique opportunity.

Scenario 1 - We generate a reward so compelling, that whoever knows about this crime will provide that information to the authorities, bringing the monster who comitted this crime to justice.

Scenario 2 - We don't find the perpetrator and I donate the money to a great animal organization like the Humane Society of Utah or Utah Animal Adoption Center.

Scenario 3 - My favorite. We generate over $4000 in funds, the first $4000 goes to the reward, and the remainder gets donated to one of the above organizations. If nobody comes forward, the whole amount gets donated. Either way, animals in Utah will benefit from the kindness and generosity of those of us who truly care for their welfare.

Someone out there knows something about this. Someone saw it, overheard something, or possibly even knows the person who did it. One of my most loyal companions over the past 11 years is gone. Please contribute to the reward fund to help find his attacker.  Of course, if you have information about this crime, please contact the Bountiful Police Department at [phone redacted] or Davis County Animal Services at [phone redacted].

Thank you!
