Rev James Blakely Rent Arrears, etc

Donation protected
Rev. James Blakely, a 97-year old WWII veteran, says he’s being evicted from his studio apartment in Bed-Stuy, although it was reportedly gifted to him rent-free five years ago. Rental arrears are $24,130, so I'm hoping to cover that plus associated living expenses during the holiday season for this veteran who saw action at Pearl Harbor and is being closed out of a rapidly-gentrifying Brooklyn neighborhood.

“In December of 1941 I got bombed by the Japanese,” says Blakely, wearing his USS St. Louis hat in his apartment. “This Christmas I’m facing eviction by the Black Veterans for Social Justice. Boy oh boy, what a difference 76 years makes.”

***I have never made a GoFundMe before, but this story caught my gut on Christmas eve. Any tips on how to ensure transparency for funders would be appreciated. Please excuse my learning curve!***

Campaign will end the 4th at noon and I will deliver funds to Rev & his wife the next day.
