Hawaii Kai Lion's Rescue Tube

Donation protected
Aloha!

Thank you to everyone who have contributed through Go Fund Me to support the Hawaii Kai Lions Club's Rescue Tube Project. We successfully completed phase one of the project and have already distributed over 100 rescue tubes, including posting a couple at Spitting Caves and China Walls.

The project is going so well that we already have a couple documented incidents where the rescue tubes at China Walls have saved lives!

Phase two of this project is starting now. With the help of other Lions Clubs and organizations, the goal for this phase is to expand island wide and distribute1000 tubes. We need help spreading the word and funding ($80,000 is the amount needed for the 1000 rescue tube order).

If you are one of the April tube giveaway recipients and your tube has been used for a save, please send me any information or pictures for documentation.

Thanks for all your help, keep up the good work. Please feel free to contact Lion Eric Kvick via phone or email. The rescue tube flyer attached below has more information on the project.

Sincerely,
Eric Kvick

Thank You for your interest in this life saving project.

Rescue Tubes
are personal flotation devices designed to assist distressed swimmers until lifeguards arrive. They should only be used by strong swimmers following instructions printed on the tube.

Hawaii Kai Lions have partnered with the Rescue Tube Foundation     www.rescuetubefoundation.org  to introduce Rescue Tubes to Oahu, where there is an average of 27 drownings per year. The 240 rescue tubes already on Kauai have accounted for over 140 rescues there. To get the program going on Oahu, Lions have purchased 100 tubes to be given away, free of charge, at an event  April 29th at the Koko Head end of Maunalua Bay. Hopefully a much larger giveaway to follow.

Hawaii Kai Lions are seeking responsible tube recipients in the following categories:
*Individuals or businesses with private property on the water where tubes can be mounted for use by a good samaritan
*Retail Businesses willing to display the tubes to raise public awareness
*Other clubs and community organizations interested in getting involved with the project
*Canoe clubs or water sports businesses capable of using the tubes as designed

Please view this instructional video to familiarize yourself with the safe use of a Rescue Tube:

The Hawaii Kai Lions Club is raising $8,500 for 100 rescue tubes to be distributed around Hawaii’s beaches.

Our GoFundMe goal is now $6,000, thanks to Hawaiian Cement who donated $1,500 and Hui Nalu Canoe Club for their donation of $1,000.
Whether you can donate $1 or $1,000, any amount will help save lives.

*Your donation through our Go Fund Me webpage is not tax deductible. Hawaii Kai Lions are not a 501c3 and also, goods (tubes) are being received.
