Renae DeLiz & Ray Dillon Family
My name is Renae De Liz, comic book writer and artist, recently of Legend of Wonder Woman. Right before the Holidays I was informed the project Ray Dillon (my husband) and I were working on was unfortunately cancelled. The finances we were expecting from the project through the New Year won't be coming, so we are left scrambling trying to find a way to support our family through the Holidays, and through this unexpected upheaval to more secure ground.
This GoFundMe page was at a request of those who wished to help, and the amount given is what we were expecting previously before the news to get us through the the New Year.
I have 3 children, and recently found out 1 is on the way as well! It's definitely a devastating blow to suddenly have security ripped away at a time like this, so if anyone feels like contributing, I will be forever grateful. No matter what, thanks for caring enough for even viewing the page :)
Thank you and Happy Holidays!
I don't think I could properly convey in words just what you have all done for us. Ray and I have faced a lot in our 12 years together, but the loss of our series couldn't have happened at a worse time, or have been more unexpected. Usually I could find an option to get us through a difficult time, or work harder somewhere. But this time there was just nothing, as we had put all our efforts towards the project just lost. That moment of realizing you have no way to pull through, and there is no where to turn, is one of the most horrible feelings I've ever experienced.
When I put $2000 up as a goal here on GoFundMe in hopes of helping us get through the immediate financial loss, I truly thought it wouldn't happen, and was just grateful people thought of the idea. To now see it over double what I had hoped...
You have not just given our family funding, you gave us our Christmas back, one that is full of peace and happiness, not one where Ray and I are smiling for the kids on Christmas morning, but inside are drowning in fear. We can just be together in happiness, and celebrate getting through a very very hard time.
The fact the amount has gone over, means you have also given us hope for the future, as we now have just enough time to establish ourselves into a more solid situation than perhaps even before, and it's ENTIRELY thanks to all of you. Major publishers have reached out, and I'm even considering a creator-owned super hero that has been awaiting her chance by the sidelines for years. No matter what we do, I'll always be pushing for creating adventures for all-ages that are uplifting, fun, and full of examples of diverse, strong characters, especially for young girls to look up to, and show them that they too are capable of doing anything.
I will have a special Thank You ready soon, and I hope all of you in the meantime are able to enjoy a Happy Holiday Season with your loved ones, as that is the gift you have given to us. :)
Thank you!!! :)
It's the least we could do. I mean these past couple of months/years had been very struggling and only thing i looked forward to were my weekly comics and alongside a lot of good comics, your LoWW was just such a wonderful book and after all you've done for us, its the least we could do. ^__^
Merry Christmas to you n yours, and "God bless us, every one".
Very cool. Happy for you all. :)
