REMEDY: catering the covid19 crisis
My name is Denise Simard. I plan events at UC Berkeley. In the weeks leading up to the Bay Area shelter-in-place, I canceled event after event with catering partners and I began to worry: how were they going to survive this?
I threw out an idea on social media… I’d collect donations, use the money to order boxed meals from some of my favorite businesses, and make arrangements with local hospitals to have them delivered to feed their staff. People jumped on the idea, and on March 24th Phil’s Sliders prepared 60 meals for the workers at Highland Hospital. On March 31st, ACT Catering delivered 130 meals to Oakland Kaiser. My project has become difficult to track on a spreadsheet, which brings me here!
Your donation will help a local business to stay afloat, and will provide a nutritious meal to the dedicated and stressed workers at area hospitals. You can support the local economy AND help make sure hospital workers--from janitors to physicians-- know they're appreciated!
