Save a Paralyzed Vet & his Kids!

Hello...

I am a paralyzed veteran.  I live alone with my three small children here in Medford, Oregon.   I am biased...but I have great kids...wonderful kids...they are everything to me.

My house has been modified so that I can easily get around in it and into the rooms that I need to.   I have a ramp outside to get in and out the front door in my power wheelchair.

I am also central to everything I need.  My doctor's office, the Emergency Room, my children's doctor and dentist, the grocery store and our Church.  I can easily get to any of these places in my wheelchair in just a few minutes and this is important since I do not own a car and I do not drive.

When KTVL-CBS did a story on us, the reporter, ARIANA RAKHSHANI, walked with me and my kids next to my chair to my doctor's office and she was amazed just how close it was and how easy it was for me to get there.

Here is the desperate situation that I find myself and my children in ———

A couple of months ago I was served with a notice from the bank.  The notice read in part that they had forclosed on the house we had been renting since early 2012.

Further, that the current owner (My landlord) had not paid the mortgage since May of 2010!  The documents indicated that the house would go up for auction on January 12, 2017.   I would be forced out 30 days after the sale.  This is a lot of pressure.

This would be a bad situation for anyone...But for my children and I it's worse because I am in a wheelchair.  Plus we have several challenges...

ONE:  There simply is not any houses available for rent.  I know people that have been looking for years and have not been able to find housing.   Some have contacted me and said, "If it were my family I would just move."   While I appreciate the comments...I wish it were that simple.

TWO:   I need to find a place that can be modified for my wheelchair.  While the ADA 1974 says a landlord must not discriminate and allow you to modify...they can always give another reason why not to sign a rental agreement with you.   Also, some houses are just not modifiable.

My home has been modified so that I can get into all the rooms that I need too...including a ramp to get in and out the front foor.  Plus the floor plan is very open...easy to get around.

We have a large area off our dining room...and this is where I homeschool my children through a program called Oregon Connections Academy.

THREE:   location, location, location.  Because of my mode of transportation (my wheelchair) I need to be close to my needs within the community.

My current location puts me a few minutes from grocery shopping, the Emergency Room, my doctor and the kid's doctor & dentist and from our church, Bear Creek Church.

The best thing would be for my children and I to stay right in this house.    I am praying that you will read this and see our need.   Some have said, "I wish I could help but my $20 will not do anything."  Imagine if EVERYONE donated 20 bucks?  I would hit my goal and then some.  Any amount marches toward our minimal goal.,

KTVL CBS in Medford, Oregon done a great story on us.  You can read about it here or watch the video:

When I say that I do not know what I will do if this does not happen I mean it!    KTVL-CBS did a follow-up story that included one of my Pastors.  See update for link to that story.

More about my history and challenges:

I was paralyzed for unknown reasons back on September 11th, 2006.  Fought and beat throat cancer in 2009.  Faced death many times in the hospital...my wife abandoned the kids and I in late 2014...we have faced many challenges and for the very first time, I am scared for the future.  Scared about where we will go.  Scared about what I will do.

It's not that simple for us to stay with family members...because of my wheelchair and other medical equipment.   I have to sleep on a special bed so a hotel or shelter is out.  This is the position that I am faced with.

You may wonder where I came up with the goal amount.  And, YES! It is a lot of money!   First on my limited income, I am putting away as much as I can.  However, I need everyone's help because it is alot.

The amount is what is owed on the house, the past due amount since May 2010.  You can see it in the CBS- KTVL video.  It's not real clear...but you can see it.   It just a little over my goal amount...I am guessing that the bank  will want at least this much.

The bank tells me that they do not have an opening bid yet.  I will continue to call them until they are able to give me the the opening bid.

I know this is a large amount and this is why I need the help of my community.  I need the Christian Community and churches to come together and lift my family up.  Please!  I need your prayers.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:42, "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away."

While this is a very humbling thing for me to ask, I also know that I am in need and see no clear way out.

Thank you in advanced for your generousity and your prayers.  Your thoughts, prayers and gifts mean the world to my children and I.

Instead of trying to memorize the very long GoFundMe link...I have a shorter...easy to remember link that forwards into the gofundme link:  www.reliefneeded.org

I hope that you will search your heart and help with as much as you can.  Thank you so much and may God bless you and yours!
