Every year, youth riders age 14-21 throughout the North American continent, give everything they have for one goal. One dream to compete with the best of the best in their chosen sport.
The North American Junior and Young Rider Championships is the most pretigious competition for youth riders on the North American continent. A team as well as an individual event, the NAJYRC creates a unique high performance atmosphere that fosters collaboration, organization, and a mental toughness that young people will rarely find elsewhere. The NAJYRC helps riders improve but it more importantly creates stronger individuals for lives within the equine community and beyond.
The United States Dressage Federation has split the country into 9 regions. Based on performance, riders are chosen to represent their Region on teams of 3 or 4 at the Junior (4th level) or the Young Rider (Prix St. Georges) level. Overall, a region can send one Junior team and one Young Rider team to the NAJYRC.
Region 7 conisists of youth riders residing in California, Nevada, and Hawaii. With a history of gold, you would think Region 7's legacy would be to win but this is simply not the case. While we strive to be the best we can be our legacy is our resounding team spirit. Dressage is a team sport. We rely on our parents, coaches, family, friends and our horses. At the NAJYRC, we get to rely on each other.
This is where you come in, we cannot continue our legacy if we do not get to the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships. This year the NAJYRC is at the Colorado Horse Park July 26th-31st. We are thrilled to have this years competition closer to the west coast but it still takes time and money to get there. This is how you can help. Dressage is a team sport. Region 7 is built around team spirit. We want you to be apart of our team.
