Century Park Lion

This page is offered in hopes of bringing two of my passions together. I work as an Autism Specialist and I really get a kick out of chainsaw carving. The Wellington City Park Board had basically agreed to fund me to carve a giant Lion out of a monster maple tree that had to be taken down in the Century Park; but they don't have any money to pay me now.
I am greatly intrigued with carving the Lion, in fact it's well underway. I'm doing it if I get funded or not. But, hey... I was going to charge the City $1,500 to do this. Whatever $$$ I can raise will be split 50/50 between me for fuel, chains, equipment, oils, & my time--with 50% going to the children with Autism that I serve on the Kansas HCBS Autism Waiver. I want to be able to give my in-home trainers money for fuel to go on field trips, fuel to drive across the county to serve kids, trips to the zoo, learning how to order lunch, teaching materials, and treats.Like I said, I am well under way with this project. I've put in over 20 hours so far burning 3 gallons of fuel in my chainsaws. It's really a pretty cool project
Cheers to Holidays ! Merry Christmas.

P.S. Look at who I found nestled in between the Lion's front legs yesterday ! I was grinning from ear to ear to see a child climbing on the lion already. He's bringing smiles to the park. That's what I'm looking for.
