Aid refugees on Balkan route

Donation protected
With executive orders closing U.S. borders to refugees and the Slovenian government passing a law in a similar vein that gives police the power to turn refugees away at the border, now more than ever is the time to show solidarity with refugees.

If you want to take political action against what's happening around you, but don't know how, this is one way you can make a real, concrete difference!

Sadly, the conditions for refugees in Slovenia are bare minimum. Asylum seekers are given 18 euros/month, not enough food to eat, very minimal hygienic items and clothes, and are not allowed to work until they have been waiting for 9 months.

We are raising money to give refugees what they need for survival and a healthy life. We will spend 100% of the money we receive will go to get people what they need (see below). You can track what the donations are used for on our Instagram page

We (Jenny and Katja) have been volunteering with refugees in Slovenia for 2.5 and 5 years respectively. We've built relationships of trust and mutual respect with refugees living in and passing through Slovenia, and we will continuously consult and work with the people we know and meet to assess what their biggest needs are.

No one deserves to be hungry, cold, without basic necessities, and simultaneously told they cannot work to better their situation.  The following are the needs that will be met by your donations:

-food and basic cooking supplies (check out our Instagram page for a glimpse at the inadequacy of the food being served to asylum seekers)

-winter clothes, including shoes, jackets, hats, gloves, etc. (people are often arriving in Slovenia after months of walking without jackets or proper shoes and local organizations and institutions distribute them sparingly)

-new underwear (they are given secondhand underwear from the state and NGOs)

-basic medical supplies like aspirin, bandaids (asylum seekers have no right to health insurance here)

-tampons and pads for women (the ones they are given are in short supply and poor quality)

-bus tickets (the asylum center is located outside of the city center and refugees are given no transportation options, leaving them essentially stranded in the asylum center)

Thanks in advance!
