Refugee Bike Distribution Event

Donation protected
I am one of the head organizers for a refugee bike distribution event being held on June 11th by The International Institute of New England, a nonprofit which has been resettling refugees from horrible and uninhabitable conditions from around the world for over 97 years. The event will be taking place at Murkland Elementary school in Lowell MA.

Our refugee friends use bikes as their primary means of transportation to and from employment and therefore bikes are an integral part of their daily lives. This is why this event is so very important for our refugee friends. I can definitely attest to the excitement that news of this upcoming event has created.

We have collected or purchased over 100 kids and adult bikes (118 as of May 16th), over 120 helmets, and 60 bike locks. Every bicycle distributed will be accompanied by a helmet and a lock for those using bikes as a means of transportation.

At this event, we will also be holding bike safety demonstrations as well as having food and beverages and children's entertainment. We anticipate at least 200 refugee friends attending throughout the day!

I am setting up this gofundme campaign for the many costs associated with this event. The funds will be used to pay rental fees, children's activities and crafts fees, and a take home gift for the children that attend.

Any amount helps !  The more we raise, the more we can do for these kids and adults.

Thank you !
