Peer Mentors For Youths At Risk
Reformed Foundation has trained over 100 unemployed ex-offenders to be qualified peer mentors. These go out and help young people at risk of offending and joining gangs.
We want to keep these qualified mentors in work, doing what they are trained for, but need funds to pay for this to happen.
It is an unfortunate fact that this area of work is criminally underfunded but desperately needed - 75% of youth offenders re-offend within 2 years. Youth Offending Teams (YOTs) want and need these mentors to help direct their young people who, otherwise, just hang around the projects with nothing to do and no one challenging them to be better. However the YOT service has had to deal with funding cuts leaving little money for this much needed work.
We can do something about this with your help. please donate money to this project so we can run our peer mentoring scheme for these youths.
Your money will go towards paying wages for our mentors to interact with young people supporting them to positively change their lifestyle. It will also give ex-offenders an opportunity to build a career within advice and guidance helping them to move away from their own offending history.
So please help - assisting at an early age helps prevent young people grow into hardened adult offenders - I should know I was one of these youths many years ago...
Please give generously and help us improve lives of the young.
As you know we are trying the Mammouth task of raising £2500 for our peer mentoring youth project. This should be funded by Government and Youth Offending Teams, however they will not give the money because of cutbacks. So I have to raise it myself. So I'm asking for your help by you donating a few pounds. This will allow me to do my work and get peer mentors to support the young people at risk of offending who are just hanging around bored and not focused.
This is when they need to be engaged in positive mentorship as they are vulnerable and more likely to commit crimes or hang with gangs.
This will often lead to drug taking and violence as the norm! We will engage them in positive activities and guidance. That can make the difference between them developing into balanced individuals or social deviants who by the way say "no one was there for me so why should I give a f@@k about anyone else!"
We NEED to support our youths, they deserve a chance.
