Reason for the Season 2019

My name is Jennifer Olawski, I am the 2019-2020 Middlesex County Teacher of the Year.  As this will be year four of "Reason for the Season," I am beyond hopeful of the success that this years event will we successful as always thanks to everyone's generosity! This event has been shown on ABC, NBC, Inside Edition, News 12 and other local news stations and newspapers. There is nothing more beautiful than giving to others and seeing the joy on our children's faces, all along while teaching them how a simple act of kindness can make a life long impact. 

I have been honored with the opportunity to continue the organization and implementation of a school wide gift-giving event during the holiday season. Just last year, we raised $10,000 to ensure that every child had Winter accessories, a toy, and a science Stem building kit to open during the Holiday season. As an educator for Livingston Elementary School in New Brunswick, NJ; I have been granted the chance to interact and educate approximately 450 incredible students, from a tight-knit community. 

The reason for the season is to spread kindness and to teach our scholars the importance of giving back to their communities. After seeing the impact this event has made on my former students of Paterson, NJ prior years and our Livingston students last year; I am eager and excited to unfold this event for the fourth year in a row.

With the support of family, friends, colleagues, and local community members; my goal is that we lead by example and show our youth how a little bit of kindness can go a very long way!
