We are Jackie Eisner and Danielle Tripp, music teachers from Rawlings Elementary Center for Fine Arts in Gainesville, Florida. We're asking you to help us bring 21 hardworking students from a low-income neighborhood to Disney World to perform for a holiday celebration.
This fall, 21 of our 5th grade music students auditioned for a chance to perform at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and we were so excited to find out this past week that they were selected to perform. This trip will be an opportunity for our students to perform for a large crowd and, for many of our students, their first chance to experience the magic of Disney.
Our school is a fine arts magnet school located in a low-income neighborhood. 100% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. While at school students are supplemented with fresh fruits and vegetable as snacks to ensure the proper nutrition that they are not receiving at home.
For these students, Rawlings Elementary has become their safe place. Many of their fundamental needs are met at school. Music and choir have provided a beneficial daily routine in their lives. Their knowledge in the arts has grown significantly over the past two years and an opportunity like this will most likely not come around again for this group.
We are hoping to raise $3,200 to cover the cost of a ticket, food, and transportation for our 21 student performers.
We need to raise this money no later than Dec. 1st in order to ensure that each of our diligent students has the opportunity to perform at this exciting venue.
It would mean the world to these students to not only be able to go to the happiest place on earth, but to share their joy through music.
Being able to provide this experience for our students would be such a blessing as a teacher, as well as a human being. Thank you for your time!
