Stolen Laptop and Documents

On June 8th I found that the driver side window of my car had been smashed in and my laptop bag was stolen containing my laptop and my social security card and my alien registration card. I tried the police but without the the laptop serial number it is very unlikely that I would be able to recover my things.
I'm a writer and a gamer so my laptop is doubly important to me. The stolen documents are also necessary for me to get any benefits from the gov't, which it turns out cost a good bit to replace. I spent a few weeks trying to wiggle out of this situation by myself but it seems I can't quite make it without some help.
At this point, any little thing will help. The proceeds will go towards replacing the things that were stolen.
