4 years of conflict in Yemen has resulted in the worst humanitarian crisis to exist. Thousands have died or experienced war related injuries, but as you read this today, a staggering 20 million Yemenis are food insecure. 20 million people are unsure when their next meal will be, or how they will feed their children. 20 million people go to sleep hungry. 20 million people quieten their stomachs just temporarily by feeding on tree leaves because it’s the only thing even slightly edible they have. 20 million; that is more than double the population of London, United Kingdom.
Abu Hurayrah (ra) said that Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said - “Whoever removes a grief from a believer from amongst the sorrows of this life, Allah will remove a grief from him amongst the sorrows of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever brings ease to one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this life and the Hereafter. Whoever covers a Muslim, Allah will cover him in this life and the Hereafter. Allah is in aid of the servant so long as the servant is in aid of his brother...” [Sahih Muslim]
We have been so incredibly blessed by Allah just for having a bed to sleep in at night, a roof over our heads, no worries about our next meal, and to not use these blessings in order to make even one person’s life more bearable would be unfortunate.
We have a responsibility as human beings to help those less fortunate. By the will of Allah and with people’s generosities, for the past 3 years my father has been working with people on the ground in Yemen to deliver food packages Alhamdulilah.
They are distributed to families in need, mainly widowed and orphaned families.
Each food package costs £12 and includes:
1 - Five kilo bag of rice
2 - Five kilos of sugar
3 - Five kilos of wheat
4 - Large cooking oil
5 - Pack of dates
By donating £12 you would be ensuring a family has enough food to eat for a month and inshaAllah you will have peace of mind knowing Allah chose you to be the answer to their duaa.
