A Helping Hand for Ralph Hermann

Last week, while running to catch one of his beloved dogs, Ralph had a difficult time catching his breath.   Several visits to the doctor and cardiologist later, he learned that he needs heart surgery (likely in the next couple of days) to repair a faulty heart valve (and perhaps tune up a few other heart matters).  He is currently in Yale New Haven Hospital.

Fortunately, he and his wife Pat have medical insurance, but Ralph will be unable to work for several months as he recuperates, and he has no disability insurance.   For decades, Ralph has given his time generously to help those in need -- neighbors, his family, and the Essex community.   His passion for vintage Ford Model As and Model Ts (and other vintage cars), and his tireless support of many Essex events and fundraisers each year, have given so many of us pleasure and made Essex a better place.    

Ralph, given his nature, would be embarrassed to ask for help, but when we learned of this unfortunate turn of events, we wanted to help support Ralph and Pat during his recuperation. We believe there may be many others who wish to do so as well, and therefore have created this GoFundMe site in which all contributions received will be provided to Ralph and Pat.  Together, we can show our gratitude to them for all that they have done for us, and give Ralph less worry as his generous heart gets healthy, and he returns to his life of selfless giving.  Contributions in any amount are welcomed and appreciated!   Please help if you can.  Thank you!   Dan McCurdy, 22 West Avenue, Essex CT.
