Raising Bree
My name is Wendy Gilker and I am a single mom caring for my daughter Bree who has a rare chromosome deletion called Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome. Bree will be 37 years old on April 2, 2017. The doctors said she would be lucky to live 5 years, never move and have seizures that would take over her life even with medication. Please view the attached video (done 2 years ago) to see a day in our lives.
I have never asked for money, yet several people have asked me to open this.
The issues I was dealing with over 2 years ago have been resolved with the help of a Disabilities Rights Lawyer and a Legal Aid Lawyer and it took 2 years to accomplish.
Our life is very simple - In almost 37 years I have only been away from Bree the equilvant for maybe 5 weekends.
My main concerns are paying rent and food. Any donations will be used to help pay rent, food and things like pajamas for Bree, supplements like the Ancient Minerals Bath flakes that I need to give her nightly baths, anything I use and need to care for Bree on a daily basis and keep her healthy and happy as long as she lives.
Any support is so greatly appreciated as it just makes our life easier and lifts the daily worry about meeting our basic daily needs.
My greatest fear has always been that I will not be able to provide for Bree's needs.
Bree passed away January 5th, 2017. I am continuing her legacy via YouTube (www.youtube.com/channel/UCQGjNOYA5iURjJEbWrQ_2WA) and a blog (www.wendygilker.com).
