Raise the Roof at Ndakinna

Tax deductible
The Ndakinna Education Center is an affiliate of the Greenfield Review Literary Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and charitable organization located in Greenfield Center, New York. We're starting a gofundme today to raise money for capital improvements to the buildings (most importantly roof repairs and replacement), and to help us continue offering our programs at reasonable rates that all members of the community can afford.

At Ndakinna, we teach a wide variety of Native American cultural and wilderness survival skills. Our many programs emphasize observation skills, regional cultural awareness, outdoor learning, critical thinking, team building, and character development with a special focus on the Arts of Life. These arts integrate traditional skills such as tracking, survival, dance, storytelling, the martial arts, and conflict resolution.

Due to budgetary restraints, some necessary maintenance has been put off for too long. So far we've been quoted $14,000 for replacing the rubber roof on one of the buildings, as well as repairing sections of our secondary space. Some areas of sheathing and potentially the joists will need to be repaired and/or replaced at an additional cost.

We're also entering winter, and heating and electric costs are always a concern. While we have recently replaced the furnace, costs for the season typically are high, and are not offset completely by the camps and programming that we host. Donations can make sure that we can keep the center comfortable for all attendees.

Donations are also used to provide scholarships to students, and to host events such as the Saratoga Native American Festival. It is through the help of philanthropists and volunteers that we are able to offer our varied programming. If you’re interested in helping, consider donating. No amount is too small, but for those that wish to donate at different levels, we do have some bonuses.
