We are - amazingly - really close to the target for our Pride outing. But I am going to keep this fund open so that people can continue to donate.
Every extra bit of cash will afford the group the opportunity to meet in the coming months. It will mean we can afford to book a safe space and it will take the worry out of the money that the group spends to get to the meetings from various parts of Ireland. Did you know that asylum seekers only receive €19.10 a week?
Because of funding cuts, the previous support group for LGBT asylum seekers was discontinued. Its looking like this campaign will grant them the autonomy and agency to sustain themselves as a support for one another, a network in otherwise challenging and often lonely periods of their lives.
In a devastating week for the LGBT community abroad, its so galvanising to see a groundswell of love and support for our brothers and sisters who have arrived to Ireland, fleeing persecution because of their sexuality.

Rainbow Solidarity Group is a support and social group for LGBT asylum seekers / refugees / lovely humans living in Ireland.
One of the first things we are doing is walking together in the Dublin Pride parade. We need funds to cover transport costs for individuals to come from different parts of the country and to make a big banner and t-shirts for the group.
We've been flying on a lot of goodwill and just a little more cash would help us make this happen in a fun, celebratory way. So I'm doing a virtual whip-around and asking if you have a spare fiver or tenner, please donate.
The cost of a pint from just a few of my old friends would mean that these new friends will get to walk with Pride, in this country where they are safe to do so. Love xx
