Home for Lone Soldiers

HaMiflaht is a place of refuge, a sanctuary, a safe haven. It is a house, but more than a house, it is a home. It is a home that has been set up for the lonely soldiers "hyalim bodedim", and also new immigrants "olim hadashim", that have come to make Israel their new home.

The “home” we speak of is a 2,000 square foot Condominium in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood in the southeastern part of Jerusalem. It has 5 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths, and a large, 600 square foot balcony where we can eat and gather to relax and fellowship.

Our home is called HaMiflaht, which means “The Refuge”. The name has a military context because, when a soldier is in great danger—and finds himself needing to flee to a place of safety—he seeks a place of refuge, a place of peace, a place that he can trust (Miflaht).  This is HaMiflaht. This is our home.

Property in Jerusalem may seem expensive from western standards. The cost of the home will be around $800,000 and we need to raise $200,000 for remodling and mantaining.
