**Help us raise money to purchase event shirts for Gainesville's National Die-In!
Students Demand Action Gainesville is hosting a 17 minute-long Die-In, followed by a Block Party on October 27th from 4-7 PM at City Hall. This event is to take action and raise awareness against the epidemic of gun violence in our nation, state, and city, as 96 Americans are taken too soon from senseless violence on a daily basis. A Die-In is a form of peaceful protest by which participants lay on the ground to resemble those taken from senseless gun violence, and it also allows for more onlookers to notice the event.
Our event will start with speeches and lead into a 17 minute Die-In with chanting outside of City Hall. After the protest, we will be staging a Block Party event, by which local/state organizations will be tabling to give citizens resources and outlets to get involved in the community. Also, a huge part of this demonstration will be to raise awareness of voting and voter turnout, being so close to the General Election. There will be arts and crafts as well as food trucks, and this event is free and open to the public.
THE FUNDS WILL GO TOWARDS ORDERING OUR EVENT SHIRTS AND OTHER SUPPLIES/DECORATIONS FOR THE EVENT.
