Queer Survivor Voices at FECCA 2019!
Donation protected
For the first time, a small team of LGBTQ+ conversion survivors (sometimes known as "conversion therapy") has been accepted to speak at Australia's peak multicultural conference - Federation of Ethnic Community Councils of Australia (FECCA) 2019. The conference is a fantastic opportunity to talk about a pervasive and harmful movement that has caused havoc in Australia's rich multicultural communities. However, our small team is unfunded and we do not have any grants to cover our travel costs or the really expensive registration fee. We have engaged in some really important advocacy around the rights of LGBTIQA+ people of faith in the past 18 months, however this has stretched our personal funds and the funds of our small advocacy groups.
Our team will be led by Nathan (gay survivor of conversion practices, co-leader of Brave Network, member of Melbourne's vibrant Maltese community) and Abanob (gay survivor of conversion practices, Coptic Orthodox Christian man).
The Conference is taking place in Hobart in mid-October.
