Here Doggie Doggie Rescue Fund

Here Doggie Doggie began in 2008 as a small Rescue operating out of the back room of my house on Main Street in East Sparta.  The rescuing started because in walking dogs at our local pounds, my children and I would notice that many dogs were getting euthanized...dogs who were wonderful pets but just needed a little more space and a bit more time and advertising to help them find a home.  In the past two years,  the rescue has grown from its back-room location - houseing 8-10 dogs to a 4000 square foot facility which houses 40-60 dogs at any given time. Rent, Utilities, and Insurance often superceded our abilities to care for the doggies....and of late we have had trouble meeting the expenses of running both our building and helping the doggies.
While we intended to keep the rescue small and manageable, we have recently started working with hoarders in surrendering some of their sick and pregnant dogs to us to get medical help and to have their pups in a warm and quiet environment.  We have also started having at risk school children in twice a week to walk the dogs and help socialize them - hearing from all of the counselors involved just how successful this program has been.  We have also been approached by the Stark County Family Court Work Program.  They wish to send some of their juveniles to our facility to work and care for the dogs.  And we have also been approached by programs throughout the state to participate in everything from guide dogs to service dogs for veterans.  So we feel it is necessary to keep our rescue growing and our options wide open to see whatever it is that God has for us.
The money we are asking for would be used for overhead and to help us accomodate some of these growing programs that will socialize our dogs and help others in our community.  It also means that we will not have to downsize the space in which we keep the dogs - but let them continue to thrive in a comfortable and warm facility.   That way - our rehoming fees and other donations could be used to help with spays and neuters and other medical needs of our doggies.  This would mean the world to all of us - because those of us who work with the dogs day in and day out know just how much the rescues rely on us for love, care, and hopefully a new life.  We would also be so very thankful because we can continue to expand our mission : that i n helping the dogs we are really changing the world four paws at a time!!
