Claudia Nelson Medical Expenses

Claudia Nelson is 18 and a freshman in college. She is also our neighbor and has always been like a big sister to our 16 year old daughter. She is smart, kind, and loving, and would adopt every dog & cat on the planet if able! Claudia also plays tennis and has been an active Girl Scout for 13 years.
For several months Claudia has experienced some pain & discomfort in her hip area, making it difficult for her to play tennis. She was on Varsity team at Birdville High School. Neither her family doctor or a chiropractor were able to identify her problem as they thought it was likely related to playing tennis, but recently a tumor became noticeable and her pain increased. An ultrasound and CT Scan revealed the seriousness of Claudia's issue, and a recent surgical biopsy confirmed her parents (Kevin & Wendy) greatest fears. Claudia has been diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, and beginning November 16th must spend several days at a time in the hospital on and off over a span of 32 weeks, undergoing chemo that is designed to shrink the large tumor near her hip/pelvic area. There is some positive news as the doctors have found no evidence that her cancer has spread, thank God.
Claudia's parents are Kevin & Wendy Nelson of Hurst. Wendy has worked at the Kwik Kopy on Handley Drive in East Fort Worth since before Claudia was born. Her father works at Orbital Systems in Irving. She is their only child, and the youngest grandchild & niece on both sides of the family.
The Nelson's have already started receiving medical bills for the amounts not covered by insurance, and expect these bills to continue during Claudia's treatment and recovery. Our Hurst neighborhood & surrounding neighborhoods are asking for your help, no matter how small, to offset some of the related expenses.
Our children and their parents should never have to go through this kind of pain and trauma, and with God's help Claudia will defeat her cancer and remain cancer free.
