Saving the Most Endangered Horse

Donation protected
My name is Teaghan O’Grady.  I am a high school student who believes in the importance of saving all animals from extinction.  This summer, I have the opportunity to help save the most critically endangered wild horse in the world.  It is called the ‘Przewalski’s horse.  At one time, thousands of these horses roamed freely from Mongolia to China to France.   Due to the pressures of hunting and farming, the last Przewalski’s horse in the wild died in 1969.  There were only 12 of these horses left in captivity.

But something amazing happened!

A group of caring scientists and volunteers have been working to re-establish the wild population of Przewalski’s horse.   Due to a successful captive breeding program there are now 220 of these endangered horses once again roaming the grasslands of Mongolia.  This shows the power of what caring people can do!

With the help of ‘ Animal Experience International, I hope to spend two weeks in Mongolia this June to help with the Przewalski’s horse project.  I will be living in a yurt on the grasslands, and spending each day collecting data about the horses to help the endangered herd thrive once again in the wild.  This is the link to the project:

I have spent my life surrounded by horses.  My family owns Canadian Suffield mustangs and my parents taught me the importance of saving horse breeds for future generations.

No horse has faced a greater challenge than the  Przewalski’s horse, but we have a chance to make this a story have a happy ending.

Please consider supporting my journey to Mongolia to help save the most endangered wild horse in the world.

My goal for airfare and expenses is $5200.  Every little bit helps!  My friend, photographer Sandy Sharkey has donated a 16x24 framed canvas print of my stallion ‘Cobalt’, and with a donation IN ANY AMOUNT, your name goes into a draw to win the print.  It is valued at $400.00

This is the print you could win:
