We hope this message finds you in good health!

We need your support!

The Manhood Academy for Boys works tirelessly to teach, train, transform and initiate young boys into the greatness of their manhood before the streets inducts them into its ‘hall of fame’

The street’s ‘hall of fame’ includes, thousands upon thousands young boys of African and Caribbean descent, who - for one reason or another - has ended up dead while being in police custody; some are involved in gangs, killing their brothers; others transition from school to prison, sectioned into mental institutions and/ or selling drugs. Some produce damning music videos, and the list goes on and on.

This sought-after 'hall of fame' belongs to the streets – not to the parents or their loved ones.

There are too many young ‘black’ boys getting sucked into the system (i.e. the streets), and the number one reason for this is because there are no MEN in their lives who are standing up for them, teaching and instilling ancient principles.

As you can imagine, accomplishing this mission will not only take on-going and unwavering sacrifices from the mentors (father figures), but will also require resources.

In order to acquire these resources, we need a financial commitment from family members and members of the community alike.

We consider it to be a blessing and an honour that the community - given the right opportunity - will support the cultivating of a bright future for our boys through The Manhood Academy for Boys.

The Manhood Academy for Boys is an urban rites of passage programme, committed to offering participants transformational workshops, aimed at young men aged between 8 - 12 & 13 - 19 years.

We are 100% focused on helping our teenage boys make the seemingly challenging transition from adolescence into manhood.

Why Rites of Passage?
Similar to graduation from school, college or university, the rites of passage marks the transition from one phase of life to another. Initiation is defined in the dictionary as, “the rites, ceremonies, ordeals or instructions, with which a youth is formally invested with adult status, in a community, society or sect.”

Many years ago in traditional societies, boys grew up in the company of men – learning  how to act and behave as an adult and learning the skills needed in manhood.

At the age of 13 or 14 (depending on the culture) boys were initiated into manhood, and from that day they were expected to fulfil tasks as men in their society.

In today’s western culture, many boys spend much of their childhood as fatherless sons; their mothers are the primary caregivers from birth through to adolescence. The average 13 or 14-year-old boy will have a male teacher for merely 1 year of schooling in their primary years.

In addition to this, the self-created rites of passage that young men adopt to ‘prove’ their manhood - (e.g. - teenage violence and [underage] sexual promiscuity) and the startling rate of suicide are high amongst males of this age group. It is evident that we have a problem with developing good men in the West.

We need your help!
IT TAKES A VILLAGE

IF WE DO NOT INDUCT THE YOUTH INTO THIS VILLAGE THEY WILL BURN IT DOWN JUST TO FEEL THE WARMTH FROM THE FLAMES

Completing the transition into manhood is near impossible because the distractions and negative external factors are abundant. This is the reason we deem it necessary to take our sons away for 10 days in order to complete their training.

The aim of taking our sons (your sons) to Gambia (West Africa) which is alien to their usual surroundings, is to explore and experience a new environment, provide a healing process for group bonding and communication, allow expression of creativity, help towards self development and to provide the basis for cultural, social and health education.

All of our sons will be prepared for this journey over the course of 12 months before travelling, to ensure they are physically, emotionally and mentally ready for the next stage of their transformation.

During the rites of passage, young people will be working towards their 1-year development plan – the isolation will ensure that they stay focused and committed to the task.

Taking young people away from their familiar environment will inevitably force them to focus upon their specific fears, which will consequently lead them to reassessing their environment.

As a result of this group isolation and bonding exercise, a number of fears will be addressed, such as darkness, loneliness, survival and unknown challenges; life dedication, trust, responsibility and manhood!

Many of these fears stem from conditioning by external sources outside of ones “self” (stereotypes). A primary source, for example, is the media.

If these fears are not recognised and challenged, it leads to disorientation which impacts on their environment and upbringing.

Key activities will include:
- Cultural anchoring.
- Field trips.
- Midnight initiation (in a safe and secure location).
- Deep silence and mediation.
- Group discussions.
- Cultural exchanges.
- Ancestral wisdom from elders.
- Rites of passage celebration in an African village.

Once completed, the young boys (teenagers) will be empowered enough to begin to address and have a deeper appreciation of his role in the wider community; adopt a moral code and enhance a deeper understanding of self in a holistic way.

WE WANT TO SAVE THEIR LIVES, AND THE ONLY WAY TO DO THIS IS BY SUPPORTING THEM IN BECOMING A MAN OF SUBSTANCE!

All accountancy matters will be transparent, monitored and logged.

If you would like to help us reverse the infamous stereotypical transitions of the school - to - prison or school - to - cemetery pipeline, then PLEASE donate to this most precious cause, and then inspire and encourage everyone you know to do the same.

It is Now or Never because we may not have a tomorrow, unless we create one!

When you donate to The Manhood Academy for Boys, you are joining us in making a great stand for our boys – helping them to create their own futures before the world sells them a trap.

No matter how little or big the amount, your donation will be used to directly impact boys becoming men, fathers and families in the City of London and abroad!

We can guarantee that your donation will be used with integrity and accountability.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and generosity!
