Prevent Child From Losing Family

Donation protected

We picked our foster daughter up at the hospital when she was less than five pounds. She was frail and premature requiring round the clock attention, but we fell in love with her instantly.

On that first day we let it be known that we would love to adopt this child, as we have successfully adopted our other child out of the foster care system.

Our foster daughter is now two and a half. For her entire life, we have been her devoted, loving family. We are providing for this child’s safety and healthy development. She is in no danger when she is with us and has been deeply loved.

Suddenly, a new Social Worker was put in charge of our foster daughter’s life. This social worker decided that our daughter would periodically be forced to stay days overnight with another foster family, who are complete strangers to our daughter.

Our daughter is too young to understand why she is being taken away from her home.  Each court appointed overnight visit has been severely traumatic for her.

When she returns from one of these trips, she has nightmares of being taken away from us. Since these court-ordered trips have begun, her speech has regressed and she clings anxiously to us, never letting us out of her sight.

Now the social worker is threatening to permanently transfer my daughter to this family of strangers.

How is it possible that this agency that has been explicitly created to protect children is showing no concern or regard for this child?  Not one person from the agency has inquired about the negative impact that this change is causing our foster daughter.

It has become increasingly clear that the reckless decisions of this social worker are due to her prejudice against two white women raising two African American children.

This social worker has no empathy or understanding of the trauma she is causing our daughter and has unprofessionally taken charge regardless of the resulting injury.

We have never asked for help from others and have tried to do everything for our family ourselves, but we need your help.

Paying for adequate legal support to fight against this social worker and the Department of Social Services is beyond our means. We have found a reputable, experienced child welfare attorney who is willing to act on her behalf, if we can pay for his services.

Please find it in your heart to support our daughter in this fight to remain with her family.

Thank you for your consideration, support and love.

Please note that it’s imperative that we keep all names and specific information private due to confidentiality and legal ramifications.

UPDATE:
This family is extremely grateful for the generous support that many have given to the campaign.  Unfortunately there is still a serious need for additional help.  Already the funds that have been donated have been completely utilized to pay the growing legal bills in the fight to save this foster child from a devastating situation.  Things have only become more desperate and we are determined to fight this unjustifiably cruel situation.  The battle between the family and social services continues in the courts which is the only avenue available.  This has led to increasing legal fees, but we must continue on and do everything possible to save our child.  We thank you all for your love, good wishes and support.
