PROSAMI - prevents babies dying

Tax deductible
Prosami is derived from the French acronym: Promotion de la sante maternelle et infantile. This non-profit organization was registered in the commonwealth of Virginia in January 2009. It focuses on the promotion of maternal and infant health in the rural areas of the DRC. I the founder, Agnes Kanyanya am a dedicated Registered nurse/ Advanced midwife and Neonatal intensive care nurse. The story goes that my mother died during childbirth, leaving behind a one day old baby(my sister) who grew up in an orphanage together with several other babies who have lost their mothers following childbirth complications. This organization means so much to me because i want to spare other children the pain i experienced when i lost my mother through child birth, and this is the source of my motto," No More Death For Those Giving Life". This sad experience marked my life profoundly, I was determined to join the global effort to reduce maternal and infant mortality and initiated this program, designed to bring a solution to the rural communities according to the rural setting. Strengthening midwifery education is the surest way to overcome maternal and infant death, therefore PROSAMI is training midwives in order to equip them with knowledge and skills so that they may be able to render emergency care to high risk mothers and babies, in the absence of doctors in rural areas. We need money in order to be able to train 20 nurses and for all the expenses related to the training such as computers, printers, stationery, transportation, medical equipment, books, mannakins... and alot more. The first group of 4 nurses came for theoretical training in the United States and have returned to the Congo to complete their practical training. The other 16 nurses will be trained through a network called telemedicine which The University of Virginia have donated to facilitate our distance education program and to show their support for the organization. We also need money to build a training center that is at a standard which will enable the nurses to provide quality care and save lives. I will be extremely greatfull  to those who will donate and i am thanking in advance every donor on behalf of all the voiceless under privileged mothers and babies who have been deprived the right to basic heath care.
God bless.
