Preserving JJ Young,Jr’s negatives

I’ve been working on scanning JJ Young, Jr.’s large negative collection now for over 6 years. I ‘ve been using my Epson V-700, but it’s failing. It has scanned over 15,000 negatives and slide from my collection, Dave Deyo, Doug Holbrook and JJ Young, Jr.
There are still well over 10,000 negatives to scan. I had planned on spending my own money to replace the scanner, but I have run into my own problems. Our youngest daughter (she is 17) has 4 herniated discs in her lower back and will be going in for back surgery (currently schedule for 6/25, but we are trying to get it moved up because her pain is so bad). Added to this is my wife being out of work due to severe edema in her left foot, so my plan has hit a couple of substantial snags.
The scanning work is grinding to a halt because of continuous issue with the scanner. Please help me keep this project moving forward.
I plan to purchase the Epson V-850 if enough funds can be raised.
