On Friday the 5th of May 2017, first time mother Dianna was having a few concerns about her twin pregnancy and thinking she was originally over reacting, drove herself to the local hospital whilst her partner Chris was at work. Dianna had been seen by multiple nurses and they confirmed  that she was actually in labour at only 22  weeks and 5 days gestation. Unfortunately the nurses were prepping the couple for a multiple still birth instead of intervening in the early stages, although the current scans showed both heart beats were strong. At this stage Dianna was only 2cm dialated. Twenty hours after Dianna presented to the local hospital and after the parents called an outside source was the only time a doctor was then involved and she was finally given the medications to help stop the labour and give the twins lungs a better chance of survival. However at this time, she was now 5cm dialated. The outsourced nurse and doctor team than helped organise an urgent ambulance transport to the the best premature baby hospital in Queensland. The Mater hospital managed to stall Diannas labour for another 36 hours and were able to administer  24 hours worth of steroids and magnesium to help these little babies before the twin boys were born on Sunday night the 7th of May. Baby Maximus Andrew Branson was born at only 579 grams and baby Nikolai  James Richard at 669 grams. Both are extremely tiny and will be in hospital for quite a few months yet. Maximus has already had to have major surgery on his bowel but is still fighting strong. He has also just been diagnosed with bleeding on the brain, which the doctors are closely monitoring. Both boys are on full ventilation and although Nikolai is taking mummy's milk by syringe feed, he has under developed lungs.

This new little family has a long fight ahead. On their behalf we are asking for monetary donations to help ease the strain of fuel cost, going back and forth to the hospital multiple times a day plus parking, special baby items/furniture that may be required for the boys to come home in and utilise once home and loss of wages due to going into labour extremely early. At this stage it is undertermined what the future holds for these little boys and they are highly likely to face ongoing medical issues. These include but not limited to possible learning difficulties, disabilities and organ functions.  It is unkown what special equipment or therapy may be reqired this early on. These funds will help ease the financial strain for these parents. Every little bit counts x
