"Langtang Rising" Fund

Donation protected
My name is Jennifer Bradley.  I am a 24-year-old American currently living in Nepal until the beginning of April.  I have been working with a community of displaced persons after the April 2015 earthquake that devastated Nepal.  This community is from the Langtang Valley, located in the Himalayan region of the country.  In this particular location, the earthquake caused an avalanche that has recently been discovered to hit the area with half the force of an atomic bomb.

My work with this community reaches back into November of 2015.  Since that time, I have been helping out with some photography and story-telling empowerment projects as well as a larger web-based and physical Memory Archive Project dedicated to honoring those who lost their lives and preserving the culture of the Langtang people.

I will be traveling to Langtang on March 10 for the first time and prior to this date I am proposing to all of you to help me raise some money to aid in the process of rebuilding the Langtang Valley community.  Their homes, their hotels, their shops, their livelihoods, and their family members have been lost.  Still, they are continuing to live, continuing to rebuild, continuing to "rise" together.  I would like to present the Langtang Management and Reconstruction Committe with a donation that will be distributed amongst the villagers and used for each of their benefits.

The community from the Langtang Valley is beautiful with Tibetan origins reaching back more than 600 years ago.  The community has often been referred to as "Beyul" meaning a "hidden valley" allowing for its rich culture to remain vibrant.  Today, after 175 Langtangpa lives have been lost due to the earthquake, the physical village and culture of the community is at risk.  I am requesting you to help me give back to the community who has taught me so much here in Nepal--about family, community, and most importantly about rising again after devastation.  Please consider donating to the "Langtang Rising" Fund before March 9!

Thank you so much!
