I'm raising money for two excellent causes in Baltimore: the food non-profit organization Gather Baltimore, and the Pay-It-Forward Campaign at Red Emma's Bookstore Cafe.

Gather Baltimore's mission is to relieve the hungriest residents of Baltimore, many of whom live in food deserts. GB helps by offering fresh produce at an affordable price: just $7 for 15-20lbs of fresh fruits and vegetables. Red Emma's has a "Pay It Forward" board, where patrons can donate to provide healthy vegetarian and vegan food and drink to guests who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

With your help, healthy food can make it into the hands - and bellies - of some of Baltimore's hungriest residents!

All the money raised in this campaign will be split between these two worthy causes, each doing its part to make Baltimore a better place.

This campaign also highlights my solo bicycle ride: 165 miles, from Baltimore to Ocean City, Maryland. I'll do this completely on my own, using my trusty bike and my own two legs. I've done this a number of times before (twice solo, and twice with fellow riders), and it's a blast! Considering I'm also supported completely with a plant-based diet, I've given it the name "Powered By Plants Bike Trek."

This ride is already paid for out of my own pocket. I consider it my annual vacation. The fact I'm able to raise funds for excellent causes in Baltimore is just the icing on the cake. So please support the Bike Trek, and you'll be supporting efforts to feed the hungry in Baltimore!
