Post-adoption care for the Klevjers

Two years ago, our friends Kyle and Jamie Klevjer added two additional amazing children to their family through adoption. In the years leading up to the adoption, many people helped make it possible through encouragement and financial support. We are inviting those same family and friends-along with new family and friends!-to come alongside of the Klevjers as their adoption story continues to unfold. 

Since coming to Tacoma from Ethiopia, Tewedaj and Ydidiya have been a blessing. But adoption is hard work! Children raised in traumatic situations have difficulty adjusting to a more normal life, and difficulty attaching to new care givers. Biological children go through their own difficult adjustment period, learning to navigate the new reality of their nuclear family.

Kyle and Jamie have identified some counselors who they believe will be helpful for them and their kids as they continue to walk through this hard season together. These are proven experts who have relevant experience. By donating, we can answering the financial question - "But how in the world will be pay for that?!" - allowing their family to begin getting this valuable care in the next few weeks.

A few years before the Klevjers brought Tewedaj and Ydidiya home from Ethiopia, I remember saying to them, "We are your family, and we are all making this decision together. We are not just helping you adopt these children, but we are commiting to walk with you for years to come." We know many people who also believe this! Please join us as we continue to support our friends as they learn and grow as a family.
