The Tree of Life Justice League of IL is a regesiter IL 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization ,dedicated to a grass root movement for Poilice reform ,accountibilty and transperacy of police departments nationwide ,advocating and servicing families who love ones have been brutilized, tortuted and murdered by police.
   Eric A. Russell executive director of TOLJL has been a long time activist on the front lines  fighting for equality and human rights ,attended Fisk University and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Raised on the south side of Chicago, Eric Russell had a successful career as a insurance and mortgage executive garnering many financial industry awards;most notiably ,helping to spearhead civil action lawsuits against mortgage lenders for redlining ,insitutional racsim and predatory lending against African Americans and other minorities. Mr. Russell continues to provide leadership as a civil rights leader ,activist and community organizers advocating for police reform and assisting victims of police crimes ,TOLJL provides legal assistence, final expense assistence ,tramua counseling ,civil engagement ,feeding the hungry ,financial literacy for at risk urban youths.As spokesman for the family of Betty Jones who was gun down by Chicago Police for simply opening her front door and spokesman for the Jose Nieves family who was stalked and murdered in cold blood as a result of a verbal altercation with a off duty Chicago Police officer,Jose was unarmed. TOLJL continues its great commission in the belief that the "police must uphold the law, while they enforce the law".This has led to TOLJL and Mr. Russell being ask to personally advocate for a host of families vitimized by police. Headquatered in Chicago IL where police violence against those kissed by the sun continues following the execution of LaQuan McDonald and the damning report by the Dept. of Justice confirming the racist patterns and practices of CPD aganist minotities.TOLJL recently was among the leading activist groups involved in the filing of a 'Community Class Action lawsuit' against the Chicago Police Dept.and the city of Chicago.  Tree of life Justice league need your support for its midwest branch offices expansion as police crimes against African American has become a national emergency ,and the federal govenment in the person of attorney general Jeff Sessions has publicaly statemented his will not insist on police reform , which means the police will continue to be judge jury and executors of people of color. TOLJL needs are many ,from day to day operations , relible transportation ,vitims assistence funds. TOLJL recieves no grants or federal funds all donations comes from the public who appreciates the important life saving work done at TOLJL .
