Please support Polana Camp

Donation protected
In 1960, three members (Mr Wladyslaw Czarkowski, Mr Adam Gruszka and Mr Henryk Pienkos) purchased a block of land 3 kilometers south of Healesville in Victoria, Australia. This site was named “Polana” and a youth camp was established. It consists of 11 acres of land, approximately 7 acres being bushland.

The land was sold to the Polish Association in Melbourne Inc. at a purchase cost some years later.

The association established Polana Camp as a non-profit organization for conducting Summer camps for children, nurturing the enhancement of the Polish language and cultural activities for people of Polish heritage in Australia. Website here: www.polanacamp.org.au

A number of buildings were constructed by volunteer labour and mainly from donated materials. Currently, accommodation is available for 74 guests, a caretaker's residence, a kitchen with a dining hall, an administration office, a recreational hall and two toilet/bathroom facilities. The camp facilities are used regularly by groups, associations, organizations, choirs, sporting clubs, private functions etc.

For years Polana Camp has been greatly used and loved by groups and guests all over the world. However, a renovation would be necessary to uphold the joyful atmosphere that Polana brings to all. So far, in 2018, a new floor has been installed in the recreational hall as well as a new veranda which has been built behind the dining hall.

The bathrooms, however, definitely need extra care, especially the floors which are at risk of falling apart. Additionally, windows in each building need to be replaced as well as the gutters.

The money that is currently being spent on renovations and maintenance is mostly coming from guests and groups, with the work being done by volunteers during working bee weekends.

It would be greatly appreciated if we could uphold this communal place and extend our welcome to all groups, backpackers and families from around the world.

Our prices are kept fairly low ($20 per night per adult) & ($10 per night per child) so that we can accommodate for everyone at the best prices possible. Anyone who donates will be able to book a free accommodation accordingly to their donation.

With your help, we could be able to continue to keep this place open to the public and uphold the happiness that it brings to everyone.

Please donate to improve the facilities and if you ever happen to be in Melbourne, please feel welcome to visit and stay with us, in a very clean and renewed native Australian bush environment.
