Daisy's Dream

Donation protected
Our 15 year old daughter Daisy, suffers from Multiple Tick Borne Diseases also known as MSIDS. This has caused other chronic illnesses including Gastroparesis (paralysis of the stomach), Dysautonomia, and more. She requires ongoing medical treatment for these major life impacting illnesses that have extremely debilitated her life for over two years. Once an extremely outgoing and healthy child, Daisy was mainly house bound for over a year, has had to leave school, can't do something as simple as take a shower unassisted due to fainting. Daisy's stomach is paralysed which has previously caused her to vomit up to 5 litres a day, and her autonomic nervous system does not work which can often lead to hypothermic temperatures as low as 33 degrees and a heart rate of over 230bpm from just standing up. These are just some of the many symptoms Daisy has to fight against every single day. This is known as an 'invisible disease' so whilst the person may 'look' well, they are not! These are conditions that are being improved by the generosity of donations which pay for her treatment.

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has contributed to our appeal, without these funds we would not have been able to cover the costs of her ongoing treatment here in Australia, nor overseas assistance. We have no guage for how much ongoing treatment will be in total post overseas. However, if possible, we hope to help others in the same situation as us.

Under the supervision of her LLMD specialist, who was recently awarded the Order of Australia Medal, for his work in the field of Complex and Chronic Disorders, Daisy has made significant progress with improving her Gastroparesis. There is still a long way to go before Daisy makes a full recovery but we are all encouraged by this progress.

The time has come where we now need to take Daisy overseas for treatment. The trip overseas will cost approximately $25,000 including all that comes with travelling internationally. We need to raise this in addition to her treatment in Australia, including one of her parents travelling with her as she is only 15, and lack of salary as we have no leave left to do so, due to treatment.

We also hope to raise awareness in Australia about this illness and condition via our story and communication.

In Australia her treatment requires twice weekly IV's with several antibiotics and fluids, along with 20+ medications a day and weekly colonic irrigations. However, tick borne disease is very sadly  'not' recognised in Australia, and does not offer the extensive treatment she requires. Daisy’s immune system is so badly compromised due to the infections and long-term medications that we need to rebuild her immune system so that her body can repair itself. Overseas Daisy will receive Ozone Therapy and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, amongst others. We are very hopeful that these will not only kill the tick borne diseases but also any other dormant viruses and work to restore her gut and immune system. The clinic has had huge success to date with other patients with conditions similar to Daisy.

As our daughter has now been chronically ill for 2.8 years, we have spent approximately $40,000 in Australia to date on specialists, medication, medical treatment and other miscellaneous costs including travel, home tutoring, special dietary foods and supplements.

Thank you enormously for considering this campaign and any help will be enormously appreciated. We would not ask if this wasn't a required need.
