recycle play therapy toys/supplies

Nearly two and a half years ago my life was changed in the most amazing way possible; my son Miles was born. He was immediately, and continues to be, my light and my love. He has taught me more about myself in these last two years than I had learned in my 33 years prior.

Fast forward to Miles' one year well visit and his pediatrician noticed he wasn't meeting all of the "typical" milestones. He wasn't yet walking or attempting to talk and there were significant gross motor delays, to name a few.

Speech, occupational and physical therapy were immediately recommended for Miles. As a mom who's family income is limited I was worried about the future costs but knew that no matter what, my son would receive the therapies/services he needed.

As different therapists came, and continue to come, into our home, many toys, games and therapy equipment have been recommended for us to purchase so that Miles can continue to "work" on his new skills. As a mother/wife living on a strict budget, purchasing all of these supplies was unrealistic as they are generally very expensive. Like all parents, I want my child to have the best, most up to date, opportunities for success.

Recently, I have begun going to the dollar store in my area to recreate some of the games and toys that have either been used or suggested for us to purchase. It was my most recent attempt at making a therapy tool for Miles that I asked myself: what if there was a place (physical or online) other parents could buy/sell the therapy tools their child no longer needed at a discounted rate??

After some research online I found that there wasn't such a place like what I was looking for. At that moment, Mom to Mom: New and Gently Used Developmental Toys and Supplies, was born! I am attempting to set up a place online where parents can buy, sell and swap developmental therapy supplies at a significantly lower cost than if you were to purchase an item new or from a therapy website.

Children grow and succeed in their therapy journeys thereby no longer needing the therapy item they purchased for that particular goal or task. Instead of throwing your items away or trying to resell on another site where the audience for such items are minimal, sell your items on our Facebook page that has a specific targeted audience for developmental toys, games and supplies.

As our site grows, it is my goal to create an online business with a website where items can be viewed, put into a shopping cart and purchased. It is my plan to have sellers subscribe to the site so they can receive their portion of money from the item they have sold.

Eventually, I would like to be so well known that ALL therapy agencies, doctors, schools etc, can refer their client/student to our website to see if the item they need for their child is available at a lower price than if they were buying new from a store.
