Hello Family and Friends,
Many of you may know our father, Pete Mendicino. Many of you would probably agree with me when I say he is one of the most kind,  generous, and gentle souls you will ever meet. Pete is a wonderful father and husband and we are very lucky to call him "Dad".  To his beloved students, he was "Mendo."

My dad was born and raised in Beaver Falls, PA and nothing made him happier than going to work in the very school/ town that he loves so much. In June 2013, my dad retired after over 30 years of dedicated service. He was so looking forward to retirement, golfing, and spending time with his beloved grandson, Niko.

My Dad was always an active man. Not one to sit in the house, always on the go, visting family in Beaver Falls, or hanging out with friends at local coffee shops or on the golf course. However, nothing could have ever prepared us or my Dad for what happened next.

As some of you may know, my father,  was given the devastating diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or more commonly known as "Lou Gehrig's" disease.  Lou Gehrig's disease is a terminal illness and there are no known cures at this time. However, we refuse to allow this disease to take over his life. There are certain things we can do to make it so that Dad has the resources, equiment, and medications needed to continue living his life to the fullest extent  and remain the active man that he always was.

That is where we need your help. Medical expenses have already begun to add up and there are also some experimental treatments he may qualify for. However, insurance does not cover all the associated costs and equipment needed. Although, Dad's prognosis is good and his disease is a slow progression, there are things we need to do now in order to allow him go about his normal daily life. We are not going to let ALS decide what he can or cannot do.

Lastly,  If there is one thing I can extend to you all about my father, it  is that he is a man of faith and God. So, while we pray that the Lord extends a healing hand for my father, we also know that there are things we need your help with.  We appreciate any donation you can give. There is no amount too big or too small, every little bit will help. Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about our beloved "Pete" and thanks for helping us say "NO" to ALS.  Let's help Pete enjoy the retirement he worked so tirelessly for and so deserves!
