Helen C. Peirce Elementary school is a Title 1 school with more than 70% of students coming from low income households. Peirce has served its community for over 100 years. Generation after generation has attended Peirce and received excellent education that has prepared them to be successful in life.
For the past few years, the budget crisis has hampered the resources we can provide to our students. Most notably, we are struggling to provide all students with equal access to technology and technology instruction at Peirce.
More than 60% of our students do not have access to a computer at home. The money you donate will be used towards purchasing a Chromebook cart with 35 Chromebooks for our students. A classroom set of Chromebooks will allow every teacher the opportunity to extend lessons which will allow our students to explore the content outside the classroom walls. Technology will give students new and effective ways to engage with their classmates as well as with teachers. All stakeholders will be able to give immediate feedback and push student thinking in new ways. As a school, it will allow us to prepare our students to be successful in High School by focusing on writing standards, researching standards, as well as coding.
Our mission is to guide our 1000+ students to take ownership of their learning through experiential engagement and reflective thinking. Despite drastic cuts, we continue to provide balanced curriculum to our students. On top of high-quality instruction in core content areas, our students also recieve instruction in Art, Music, Dance, Library, Physical Education and Technology by full-time certified teachers.
We are very fortunate to have a supportive parents who do what they can to support the school and its vision for our students. However, we really need your help to fund this project and hope that you find it in your heart to make a small contribution that will help our children.
