Many of you know two special members of our William & Mary Family: Peggy and Vinny Lukas. They are devoted Tribe fans, attending every contest they can. Peggy has worked for the Tribe Club for 21 years. She is the smiling face who greets you at special events and brightens our days here in W&M Hall.
You may not know that Peggy’s husband Vinny has been in the hospital for most of November and December. What started out as routine surgery in October morphed into a horrific 54-day hospital stay that included two additional surgeries, pneumonia, blood clots and intermittent organ failures. When he encountered insurance limits, Vinny was moved to a rehab center and then home; but a relapse sent him back to the hospital soon after. The goal now is to get Vinny stabilized and on the list for a liver transplant.
Throughout these many weeks, Peggy has scarcely left Vinny's side. Though he was sent home a few days before Christmas, he requires round-the-clock care, which Peggy provides along with visiting health care professionals.
The medical bills are just starting to roll in, but we know the tsunami is coming. Peggy and Vinny need our help!
