Get Paige to the Rio Games!

When the world deals you a hand of cards that would make even the strongest adult cower, you can either retreat and rest your weary bones, or get back on the bike and beat the odds. For local Port Macquarie Paraswimmer Paige Leonhardt, it's the long white lines of the pool that keep her progressing, teamed with her absolutely unstoppable thirst for life and success.

Paige Leonhardt is a 15 year old St Josephs Regional College student with a story that will make your heart soar and an infectious spirit that leaves you feeling ready to take on the world. Look out Rio, here comes our girl!

It takes a special kind of tenacity to become an elite athlete. Early morning training sessions, infamously finicky diets, and coaches so strict that they could curl the toes of even the most seasoned sportsperson. Extending on this are the lives of top tier teenage swimmers, who often have an extremely gruelling schedule to pair with the already arduous task of navigating life through the trench warfare associated with high school and the HSC.

No wonder, then, that only the strongest survive to reach the top of their field. Many are ushered into success by a relatively unencumbered set of circumstances all set to buoy them up and create
optimum conditions for triumph. And then there's Paige. Suffering severe cognitive and physical impairment after a tragic road accident when she was a tiny little five year old girl, she and her mother Tanya (who also suffered debilitating injuries in the same accident) have worked their way through their challenges to swathe a spectacular path leading Paige to make her way to Rio being held in September.

After qualifying in a series of swims including several personal best times for the young star at this years National Swimming Titles held in Adelaide, her swim coach Jeremy Wardrop has now delivered his first Paraswimmer into the world - and it couldn't have happened to a more deserving young woman.

The Westport Club is a proud sponsor and supporter of Paige, and we will eagerly follow her progress to and through the 2016 Rio Games.

This page is to raise funds in support of Paige for her to represent her country and her home town of PMQ at the highest profile sporting event in the world!

To raise funds to cover expenses and equipment vital to becoming a Paraswimmer.

Paige begins her overseas trip in the 3rd week of August 2016 and will be for for 4 weeks. Quite an adventure for a 15 year old.
