Pack 775 Pinewood Derby Track

What... If you know a scout or were one, then you know about the Pinewood Derby and how much it means to a Cub Scout Pack. For Cub Scout Pack 775 in Blacklick, Ohio, the Pinewood Derby is a one of our most significant yearly events... Not only do our scouts and their families compete, but it also allows scouts to learn to use tools and develop engineering skills while crafting a race car out of a block of pinewood. As a result of our swelling numbers, our two-lane track no longer fits our needs. To allow all our scouts full participation in competitive time trials requires a full day affair. More track lanes = a more successful Derby!
In scouting, we believe that teaching the boys how to give back to their community is vital to becoming good citizens in the future. If we can raise enough funds to cover purchasing a new track, we will sell our current track and all proceeds raised from the sale of the old track will be donated directly to our local food bank (G.R.I.N: Gahanna Residents in Need). Your generous donation has the ability to help two groups.
Why... In the last few years our pack has almost doubled, which while wonderful for scouting is a strain on our resources. We need your help!!! Our yearly Popcorn Fundraiser is underway, but the earnings are already earmarked for the many other events planned during the year--several camping outings, hiking adventures, rocket launches and more--and rather than divert funding we are hoping to elicit help to offset the cost of the track. Your Popcorn purchases have gone a long way to support scouting and our yearlong events (thank you!); this fundraiser hopes to help supply a new, four-lane track for our growing pack.
Who... Cub Scout Pack 775 is located in Blacklick, Ohio. Our scouts, who number close to 65 at this time, join the program from Blacklick, Gahanna, New Albany and Pataskala. Our goal is to teach these young men life and leadership skills required as they continue in their path to Eagle Scout. To do this, we run a year round program that includes many outdoor activities such as camping six to seven times a year, fishing, and hiking, as well as completing civic duties such as yearly conservation service projects and Scouting for Food.
When... We are trying to complete this fundraiser by the end of November so that we can purchase a new track before our Pinewood Derby in late January.
