Habitat for Humanity
Now I'm looking to do something similar on a broader scale. Habitat for Humanity is well renowned as a leader helping those in need around the world. And I have signed up with them to donate my time and put my hands to work building homes for families that need our support. So in about 2 months, I am going to fly to Argentina to spend 9 days there doing what little I can to make the world a better place.
If you've looked up Habitat for Humanity before( http://www.habitat.org/), then you will know that these trips are not free. They require a fairly large donation/fee just to be able to join them and donate your time. So I'm looking for your support to help me with the Habitat for Humanity fee and travel. If I receive donations in excess of my goal, 100% of it will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. Also, anyone who donates will receive photos and videos of the entire experience.
Thank you all for your support :)
With so little time left, I'm making one last shout out for donations. The point of all this is to put a family in need, into a home. Plain and simple. Your donations are going to help make that happen and also assist Habitat for Humanity with future projects. So far we're at 25% which is huge!! Any support you can give is appreciated!
And don't worry, this is the last time I will be blowing up everyone's Facebook with this and will soon be replaced with pictures of the home we're building. So thank you all for bearing with me :)
One last thing, I want to give a GIGANTIC THANK YOU to those that have donated. You are all amazing and I truly appreciate you supporting my cause.
With your help, we're putting a family in a home which is no small thing and we will only have 10 days and 8 people to do it. Think about a project you've done around your house, replaced some sheet rock, fixed that faucet leak, repaired an electrical issue, painted a room or had professionals come in to do work... How long did it take? How much did it cost? These trips are very expensive to join to cover materials needed to build the home for the family in need(not the trip itself), plus donating 10 days worth of time which is usually the most difficult to donate. So because of the cost associated to join and build a home with Habitat for Humanity, they ask ALL volunteers to fund raise. There is only 3 weeks left until I fly out to Argentina to volunteer so please help support my cause!!! And thank you to all that have donated, we're almost to 10% of the goal!! :)
For those that don't know and are curious, the seed house(casa semilla) concept means we are beginning the first stages in the construction of a house such as the foundations, the bathroom and kitchen facilities, and the first two rooms to provide a starter home for families.
The photo below(and the photo above) is a family living in a homeless community called the Pope Francis Settlement in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It's families like this, we're trying to help.
From what our team lead has told us, it looks like there will be about 16 of us split up into two groups doing two separate projects. Each group is going to be building a home for a family during our 10 days there. I'll be taking videos and pics of the whole process once we're out there to share with you all.
And don't forget, your donations put up a house for a family in need :)
