Organizing for Justice and Equality

When the election results came in last November I, like so many of us, had a lot of feelings. And though I felt angry and sad and afraid I also felt inspired to channel those feelings into action. Though I have been much more active and involved on a regular basis, like many of us living in blue states, I've felt that perhaps my actions might have more impact elsewhere in the country. Well folks, I have the opportunity to put my good where it will do the most by helping to set up an anti-racist economic justice-based community organization called Hoosier Action in Bloomington, Indiana this spring.  And I need your support to make it happen! 

Hoosier Action 

This April, I'll be heading to southern Indiana to work alongside my brilliant friend Jesse Myerson  and Hoosier Action executive director extrodinaire Kate Hess Pace.  Kate is an experienced community organizer and Indiana native and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work with her. Jesse is an activist and writer and in addition to his work with Hoosier Action will be launching a new podcast this spring called From the Heartland, check out and support his patreon here . 

"Hoosier Action is a new project focused on building the political power of working families and individuals in the state of Indiana. Hoosier Action emphasizes robust community organizing, where campaigns are built around economic and social issues that impact people and communities across the region. Hoosier Action will work to increase voter participation, lift people out of poverty, and build a new political voice for the residents of Indiana who have been left on the margins."

I will bring my experience in project management and program support and my skills in planning, problem solving, and system creation to support the organization through it's critical nascent stage.

I am raising these funds to cover my living expenses and transportation to and from Bloomington this spring. I plan to spend six weeks volunteering on this project full time and am super excited to get to work! Your donation will enable me to donate my time and energy to Hoosier Action, and ultimately will help to transform the politics of Indiana.  Any money raised beyond my goal will be donated to Hoosier Action.
